Legislators and Staff Volunteer at Cleveland Foodbank
Legislators, their staff and others volunteered at the Cleveland Foodbank on Dec. 18. They learned about what the Foodbank does, hunger issues in Northeast Ohio and then got right to work by volunteering.
On average, the Foodbank distributes 100,000 pounds of food each day. Volunteers are key to the Foodbank's success and help throughout the year with various projects. In FY 2012, more than 12,000 people volunteered saving the Foodbank from hiring 29 employees.
Some of the legislators and others who attended include: Congressman-elect David Joyce, City Councilman Michael Polensek, Clerk of Council, Jeanne Schmotzer of the County Council, City of Warrensville Heights Mayor Brad Sellers, Beth Thames from the Office of Senator Sherrod Brown, Linda Vopat from the Maple Heights Pantry, Jack Nugent of the St. Bede's pantry, Councilman Jack Schron of the County Council, Councilman Mike Gallagher of the County Council and Pequita Hansberry of the City of Warrensville Heights.
