Friends of the Foodbank Volunteer Day- May 2011
The Cleveland Foodbank's bi-annual Friends of the Foodbank Volunteer Day was held on Saturday, May 14, 2011. 30 people worked to pack 4 days' worth of food in one afternoon for 500 seniors, as part of our new Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP).

Cargill Donation & Distrubution
Thanks to a $248,000 donation from Cargill Deicing Technology the Cleveland Foodbank was able to purchase key equipment to help increase the capacity to distribute food effectively.

2011 Volunteer Recognition Event
On May 5, 250 volunteers dined at Windows on the River in celebration & thanks to the incredible volunteers that have helped the CFB this year. The Foodbank honored Don and Joanne Epstein as our 2011 Volunteers of the Year and PNC as our Volunteer Group of the Year. Volunteers with 100 hours or more were also recognized. Anne Goodman addressed the group. It was a truly enjoyable evening.

Over 50 of the best restaurants & beverage purveyors in Northeast Ohio came to the Galleria in Downtown Cleveland to showcase some of their most popular dishes & spirits - all for Harvest for Hunger.

Senior Food Box Delivery
The Cleveland Foodbank is proud to serve local seniors with this new senior box program, administered by Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services (ODJFS).
This is the first time the program is being offered in Northeast Ohio. We are partnering with different Golden Age locations to get these food boxes to qualifying seniors.

Indians, Browns Give Thanks at the Foodbank
Members of The Cleveland Indians & Cleveland Browns came to the foodbank this week to show their support & give back to the community. Both organizations took time to repack holiday meals, work in the kitchen & help load orders from agencies for the busy holiday.

Senator Brown reiterated the need to continue to fight for programs that provided essential services like food programs then spent some time loading trucks that were delivering food to local programs.

Cleveland Indians & Tyson Foods Help Lift Up America
Lift Up America & the Cleveland Indians teamed up with Tyson Foods, Inc. for the fourth consecutive year to help bring the gift of more than 30,000 pounds of protein to the area's less fortunate today at Progressive Field.
"The Voice of the Indians", Tom Hamilton hosted a brief press conference prior to the noon protein distribution with the support of Tribe players, 20 student-athletes from Baldwin Wallace and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

Ohio Legislators Holiday Repack 2011
Legislators & Public Officials joined us at the Cleveland Foodbank to work together to pack holiday yams.
They packed more than 3,500 pounds of yams in an hour.
