Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are crucial to the operation of the Foodbank. Without volunteers, it would not be possible to collect, sort and repack all the food that comes through our warehouse every day. But that's not all. Foodbank volunteers also help with administrative tasks, special events, and serve on committees.
In 2012, more than 12,000 volunteers contributed more than 62,000 hours of service to the Foodbank. Their hard work and effort saved us from hiring 30 full time staff & over a million dollars in salaries & benefits, an expense we could not otherwise afford.
Volunteers make our work possible. We hope you'll consider joining us. To make the most of your time, use the following process:
- Check out our volunteer guidelines to begin.
- If you are eligible, you can register as a volunteer. You only need to register once.
- You will need to sign our Release Agreement. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian will need to sign.
- Once you've registered and signed the release agreement, go straight to our volunteer calendar to sign up for a shift. Or you can contact our Volunteer Services Assistant or call 216.738.2069 to schedule an appointment.
- Confirm your appointment.
- On the day of your appointment, go to the Foodbank for your assignment.
- At the end of the job, sign out.
Featured Volunteer:
The Foodbank is fortunate to have a dedicated hunger fighting champion in Cathy Wyban.
Cathy has been volunteering for the past eight years, donating more than 600 hours of service, 160 hours last year alone. Mrs. Wyban manages the monthly AT&T Pioneer group on a monthly basis even after retiring three years ago. She not only coordinates the recruitment of volunteers for these events but she provides special treats for her volunteers almost monthly.
Cathy even volunteers on Thursday mornings each week with the illustrious Hacker’s group. She will take on leadership roles to lead other volunteers through projects & is well respected and liked by the staff and her peers.
Cathy feels that it is very important to help other who cannot help themselves. People need to look out for each other, not just themselves. She feels that if you can start a wave of caring for all people, more people will be able to use their talents to make this world a better place.
