Cleveland Foodbank wins national award for SNAP outreach

The Foodbank recently received an award from Feeding America in recognition of outstanding SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as food stamps) outreach efforts. Judges awarded the distinction to the Cleveland Foodbank for helping area families find a stable source of food - in particular, through SNAP.

In February and March, cashiers at participating supermarkets throughout northeast Ohio joined in our effort to provide needed meals for our hungry neighbors by encouraging customers to add a Harvest for Hunger donation to their grocery bill in the check-out aisle.

Working to make nutritious food accessible to more people in need is one of the Cleveland Foodbank's big goals. In order to serve more people, we're seeking additional sites to participate in the program. The mobile pantry provides fresh produce, bread and other products.

Market at the Foodbank raises $233,000
April 2013
The Cleveland Foodbank thanks all those who made Market at
the Foodbank a success. From participating restaurants and beverage purveyors
to celebrity servers to volunteers and attendees, your support in the fight
against hunger is much appreciated.
Held on April 14, the event drew about 2,000 attendees. In total, about $233,000
was raised. That will provide 932,000 meals to those in need in our area!

Kickoff event marks start of Harvest for Hunger 2013 campaign

The Cleveland Foodbank held its annual kickoff event for the Harvest for Hunger campaign. The event featured a Supermarket Challenge and speakers who talked about the issue of hunger in our community and how anyone can help fight hunger throughout the campaign.
